The Challenge


Through all of their individual and collective efforts, DEC work to eliminate barriers, ensure access, protect civil rights, and affect positive social change. When we first began working with the team at DEC, they were seeking a more effective means of outreach to consumers.

They hosted two websites, one for primary disability information, the other for their interpreters program. Their certified American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters and Certified Deaf Interpreters (CDIs) programs are available for a multitude of needs and settings. They also offer American Sign Language classes at our Lancaster, PA Center.

As a nonprofit, DEC relies on the generosity of others - volunteers, donors, and community partners. Without an easy mechanism to reach these people, they lacked an effective way to onboard new volunteers or team members. The original DEC website also contained a large body of information often difficult to navigate.

What We Did


We began the project after meeting with then CEO Dan Stroup and his team to identify key objectives. Once we knew desired outcomes, we got to work selecting a website layout and format that served the basic flow and function of their core services.


What We Achieved


Once we gained an understanding of their most important goals, we got to work on a revised layout that better delineated between each of DEC's core programs. We also digitized their Volunteer and Employment application process, and set them up with an optimized blog format for enhanced news and updated to the community.
